Ue wo Muite Arukou (Sukiyaki) lyrics

Dancin' - Kitty
Yesterday I was trying to find the kanji lyrics to Ue wo Muite Arukou, aka. Sukiyaki, by the artist Sakamoto Kyu. However, despite my best efforts (Which probably weren't that great) I couldn't find them anywhere. The most I could find was the romaji version of it, and that's basically everywhere.
So, seeing as the kanji lyrics were lacking, and I really wanted them, I decided to make them. These are mostly for my personal use, but I figured since I spent hours on them I would put them out on the web for anyone else who maybe wanted them. (For the five of you out there that may have been searching for them.)

Also, please note I am in no way fluent in Japanese, and my Japanese skill is 'noob' at best. So I'm sure there are a ton of errors. But I tried my best, and it was a learning experience.
So, without further delay, here are the lyrics.
Kanji

Hiragana

English
I look up while I walk
So the tears won't fall
Remembering those spring days
But tonight I'm all alone
I look up while I walk
Counting the stars with teary eyes
Remembering those summer days
But tonight I'm all alone
Happiness lies beyond the clouds
Happiness lies above the sky
I look up while I walk
So the tears won't fall
I cry while I walk
For I am alone tonight
Remembering those autumn days
But tonight I'm all alone
Sadness hides in the shadow of the stars
Sadness hides in the shadow of the moon
I look up while I walk
So the tears won't fall
My heart is filled with sorrow
For tonight I am alone
For tonight I am alone

I also didn't do this on my own, if I had it would have taken me even longer than a day! I used the site everything2.com/index.pl since it provided a semi-literal translation to the song. I just tweaked the English version a bit so that it would fit to the beat of the original easier.
I also used Jim Breen www.csse.monash.edu.au/~jwb/cgi-bin/wwwjdic.cgi to help make sure the kanji I was using where the right ones. I told you my Japanese skills were noob. lol.

P.S. If it's not already obvious, this is the song my title page came from.

The kanji
Thanks for the kanji version. I had not found nijimu (giving nijinda) and was very thankful to see the kanji and thereby be able to track down the word. My feeling for that line is: "counting blurred stars". Obviously meaning "blurred by the tears in my eyes". I appreciate the work you went through.

correction
thanks a ton for the kanji version, but there's a minor mistake. the lines with shiawase ha and kanashimi wa should be shiawase wo and kanashimi wo.

There's a comedy version of sukiyaki, conducted by Kasino ( the warkop group, indonesian comedy group) , in honor of Sakamoto Kyu, and not disrespecting, here is the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z5agtZUH1Yc

this scene taken from their film telling abuot spy activities , and pretending by sing sukiyaki.

That's very good!
Hey! Your transliterate verison is very good. I wish that a English music artist could record this song with this translated version...
It would be the closet to the original version. Good work! :)

Sukiyaki lyrics in Japanese
Thanks so much for the lyrics. I was searching for them in Japanese, for the sake of a Japanese lady friend who married a Chinese.

I hope this song will remind her of home and make her happy.

Sukiyaki Lyrics
Thanks for writing this Kanji version, everything is perfect except I want to know whether the chorus part SHIAWASE WA should be わ not HA は? Similarly KANASHIMI WA should be わ not HA は?Can any one confirm it?

幸せわ雲の上に
幸せわ空の上に

悲しみわ星の影に
悲しみわ月の影に

Have a great day!

Re: Sukiyaki Lyrics
It's been a while since I've reviewed Japanese grammar, but if memory serves me right it should be は instead of わ, even though it is pronounced wa, because it's a linking word denoting the subject.

Looking at my romaji lyrics, I wonder if I should have は written as ha instead of wa. I wrote it as wa originally because that's how the syllable is pronounced in the sentence, but it may be confusing for some who know the pronunciation of the characters.

Re: Sukiyaki Lyrics
かなしみ は (kanashimi ha): the letter 'ha' is used for the particle 'wa', so it's correct.
similar to ‘こんにち は’ is konnichi wa.
